History of Valmanzini

Cascina (farm) Valmanzini has grown over the centuries, with its oldest part dating back to 1582. You can see this in the engraving on the old house (bookable for holidays). It is believed that it started as a home for monks. Over time, it became a working farm with houses, a barn, and more than 30 hectares of land for crops and animals.

In 1942, the old chicken house was turned into a small chapel to give people a place to pray for their loved ones called to fight. For many years, people from nearby Sottovalle walked to the farm for a special Sunday Mass, like a small pilgrimage.

The farmers

Ciao! We are Thomas and Janne, both in our early thirties, and since 2026 the happy owners of Cascina Valmanzini.

When we met eachother, we realized we share the same love for simple living, being outdoors, eating good food with a glass of wine in a beautiful spot, swimming in the river, going on adventures, and meeting new people.

Last years we travelled a lot in our campervan. We discovered amazing places, where people created more than a house — but a way of living close to nature that we really admired.

After a long search for our own ‘place’, we arrived at farm Valmanzini and both felt it immediately: this is the place where we are going to create our own little paradise!

We are happy to welcome you here and hope to meet you at Valmanzini.

Our plans

We live in the middle of the forest, surrounded by chestnut and porcini mushrooms. We are going to plant plenty of fruit trees and are working on a large vegetable garden. Everything will be organic, and in a few years we hope to have enough experience to make our farm fully permaculture-based, growing naturally with the land. 🌱

In the summer of 2027, we hope the farm will be fully up and running, and that we can welcome guests under the name Agriturismo Valmanzini.
